I am in my 20th year of being a Jaguar! I am in my 25th year of teaching and I have taught all grade levels including preschool. I graduated from SUNY College at Buffalo with a BS of Science in Art Education.
I moved to Greenville, NC, and taught in Grifton NC for 2 years at Grifton School. In 2002 I began working at the Glendale Elementary School District, teaching art classes at Discovery Elementary School.
2005 I started at DRHS and have been here ever since. We did not have digital photography at the time so I taught drawing and B&W photo. It would not be until 2008 that the digital photo program began and have been working as the digital photo teacher ever since.

Course Description:
Digital photo I is a course designed to introduce students to the Mac computer, the Adobe Photoshop program and cameras. Instruction will be given on how to use the computer in a general manner then move to the Adobe Photoshop program where students will work on photo manipulation. We will be using the cameras and learning how to take great pics! Tutoring Hours- before school 7:00am - 7:25am, during 2nd hour and JCT or by appointment

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Cameras
We will be using digital/mirrorless cameras for this class. If you have your own I recommend that only you use that camera if you bring it to school. If you want someone else to use it please talk to your parents about the consequences of those actions. While you are in my room I will insist that only you use your camera unless there is an understanding between all parties involved.
Use of the school cameras will be limited to students who are receiving a “A” in the class. It is expected that school equipment be handled with respect and taken care of. Any misuse of any school equipment will result in the loss of using the cameras.
Computers
Any misuse or abuse of the computers will result in no longer using them. Videos, YouTube, games of any kind are not accepted at anytime.
Food
There is to be no food in the class.
Pre-test
The semester begins with a pre-test to determine students’ knowledge of the Mac computer and cameras in general.
Post-test
The final exam is mandated by the board of education to be 10% of the semester grade. This post-test will be both written and practical and will measure improvement in knowledge and ability that has taken place during the semester.
Bathroom
Students will be in class for the first ten minutes of class and the last 10 minutes of class before being excused to leave the classroom. Phones are to be kept in the classroom when leaving for the bathroom.
Craftsmanship
Creative expression is linked with craftsmanship in this course. Students are encouraged to appreciate the value of giving their best effort and of finding pride in producing quality work.
Phones
No Cell, Bell to Bell
Phones are not to be out during instructional times or any other time during class. Students will be asked to place them away if they are taken out. If a student has a phone out they will be asked to put it away. If it is a constant problem a call home will be made to make parents aware of the situation. Any further issues will be addressed with administration.
Attendance
Students are expected to be in class at the time of the bell. Tardies will be marked and after 5 a call home will be made. 6 or more the administration will be informed.
Grades
Grades will be broken into 2 categories, 20% Formative and 80% Summative Assessments. Lessons will be formative and assignments will be summative.
